Note: Visit our Copayment and Cost-Share Information page for 2021 costs. View the cost information below for TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS) beneficiaries. The sponsor's enlistment date does not determine costs. TRS members are covered under TRICARE Select. Emergency Services. TRICARE defines an emergency as a medical, maternity, or psychiatric condition that would lead a “prudent layperson” (someone with average knowledge of health and medicine) to believe that a serious medical condition exists; that the absence of immediate medical attention would result in a threat to life. If you want to save on healthcare costs, urgent care centers are a great choice for minor illnesses and injuries. Studies show that an ER can cost six times more. than urgent care for the same service.
Costs
Beneficiaries can receive care at any TRICARE-authorized urgent care center or convenience clinic. Cost shares will apply, as shown below. TRICARE Prime beneficiaries will not incur point-of-service deductibles and cost shares if the urgent care center or convenience clinic is TRICARE.
